Human in the Loop

Every choice you make here has already been made by an algorithm somewhere else.

Human in the Loop is an experimental online platform where visitors navigate moral dilemmas embedded in everyday AI applications. Set in the AI-infused fictional town of Aidiri, participants move through eight distinct levels that confront them with real scenarios drawn from sociology, education, health, economics, politics, and law enforcement. Guided by a town citizen named Kaydin.

We built the platform as a hands-on immersive experience designed to make abstract AI ethics tangible. Rather than presenting arguments, we designed situations. Cases where visitors must make choices and live with what those choices reveal about the costs and benefits of AI in daily life.

Human in the Loop was produced in collaboration with Initiate: Digital Rights in Society (Cambridge, Massachusetts) and the Paris Peace Forum.
